Del Mar Power at the Spring Lift Off

Del Mar Power at the Spring Lift Off

On Saturday, March 15, Team Del Mar Power competed at the Spring Lift Off, hosted by Rep Max Performance.

Elsie made significant progress at this meet, achieving a notable 7 kg increase in her total. This improvement was the result of a dedicated 10 week program designed specifically for the RPM Spring Lift Off, which began in January. The primary focus of the program was refining the second pull in the lifts.

Elsie Williams Junior Womens 55 kg

Over the past 10 weeks, training included double pause snatches, single pause snatches, heavy snatch pulls, halting snatches, and their clean variations all strategically programmed to strengthen the second pull.

Moving forward, the next cycle will emphasize overall strength development. The main focus will be on building muscle mass, with weightlifting integrated towards the end of training each session. Exercises will be programmed to reinforce the supporting muscles needed for heavier overhead lifts while also strengthening the lower body and core to maintain a strong pull and stability in the squat.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue building strength and refining technique!

Strength Tank Annual Winter Invitational Recap

Our club Del Mar Power gained competition experience at the Strength Tank Annual Winter Invitational on February 1st. The meet was a testament to the dedication and discipline of each competitor, highlighting the impact of structured training and the consistent effort of each athlete.

This meet was an opportunity to measure their growth since their last competition. With five weeks of training following the SoCal Winter Classic on December 14th and a well-earned two-week break for the holidays, athletes stepped onto the platform ready to give their best. For some, this was a chance to debut new training adaptations, while for others, it was about proving to themselves just how far they’ve come.

Elsie’s Progress: A Payoff from Focused Training

Elsie competing in the women’s 16-17 year old 45 kg category came into this competition with a refined approach. Starting a new program in January, her focus shifted toward a focus on the second pull of the lift and a secondary focus on improving depth in the squat. One-third of the way into the new program, the meet provided an opportunity to test the programming and assess training progress so far.

Elsie successfully increased her competition total by 4 kg (8.8 lbs) compared to her performance at the SoCal Winter Classic.

Breakthrough Performances on the Platform

Several lifters showcased their growth, setting new competition bests and reinforcing the value of consistent training.

Zoe Anderson in the women’s under 13, 45 kg category successfully snatched 15 kg and Clean and Jerked 24 kg. Totaling 39 kg, up 4 kilos from her most recent meet in November at the Last Chance Qualifier held at West Coast Elite. 2024 where she totaled 35 kg. Her lifts displayed increased confidence and technical refinement, proving that steady, focused work leads to gains on the platform.

Jessica Anderson in the women’s under 13, 30 kg category successfully snatched 12 kg and Clean and Jerked 18 kg. Totally 30 kg improving her total by 6 kilos from her most recent meet in November of 2024 where she totaled 24 kg.

Jessica had one of the biggest jumps in total, increasing her best competition mark by 6 kg since her last meet. Her improved performance highlights the impact of dedicated training and a willingness to push past previous limits.

Liam Anderson in the men’s under 13, 32 kg category successfully snatched 7 kg and Clean and Jerked 9 kg totaling 16 kg.

For Liam, this meet was a milestone and an opportunity to establish a baseline and gain valuable competition experience. Stepping onto the platform is a crucial step in any lifter’s journey, and this meet set the foundation for future improvements.

The Winter Invitation was just the beginning of another exciting season of growth, and the lifters of Del Mar Power are ready for whatever comes next.

Until the next meet keep lifting, keep pushing, and trust the process.
